We tested the new Diamondback binos in the 10×42 model. They offer a crisp, clean image and a wide field of view. They are waterproof and fogproof which allowed us more opportunities to glass with them during hunting season. We found the binoculars to be comfortable to use, especially with extended periods of searching for animals to stalk. There are eight different models ranging from 8×28 to 12×50.

We found this 6×21 rangefinder to be quick, very consistent and accurate when taking distance readings. Additionally, field-testers were able to calculate angles and bullet-drop for the caliber and load being used and found the rangefinder to be very helpful for determining true horizontal distance to game. It’s got a range of 5- to 1,300 yards, is waterproof and contained within a rubber-armored metal housing, has a diopter adjustment and accepts a tripod.

It’s compact but provides the magnification range and objective lens for the vast majority of situations we encounter in Alaska. And we trust Nightforce for rugged reliability, consistency and dependability. We like the design of the MOAR reticle and found it easy to acquire targets in both bright and low-light conditions.

The Mini Shot Pro Spec reflex sight is designed for shotguns, rifles, and pistols, and is equipped with a 5 MOA red dot reticle, an advanced optical system with dual-pane glass, a scratch-resistant lens, windage and elevation click adjustments and a battery life up to 10,000 hours. We like that this sight makes it easy to see close targets and maintain peripheral vision when locating close targets, and that it is waterproof and shockproof to handle Alaska’s tough conditions. The on-off switch is mounted on the side of the sight and this makes it easy to turn on the device, and reticle brightness can be adjusted. It also comes with a cover, which helps to protect the sight when not in use and comes standard with a removable low-profile weaver mount and lower 1/3 co-witness riser mount. One of the advantages of this sight is that it is versatile, and can be used on a rifle, shotgun, pistol or AR for a variety of purposes.
