“The Great Moosecapade” by Shawna Pauley

In the Last Shot column running currently in the most recent issue of Hunt Alaska magazine, author Shawna Pauley recounts a tale that includes the use of an electronic moose call during his fall Alaska hunt. The use of electronic calls for hunting is prohibited in Alaska. However, Mr. Pauley’s hunt took place “quite a few years ago;” in fact, this hunt took place before the Alaska Board of Game voted to prohibit the use of electronic moose calls in January of 2008, and the hunt was indeed legal at the time. Our editors should have made the timing of the hunt more clear in the text, and also stated that since 2008, the use of electronic calls has been prohibited.
